Freshwater/ Saltwater
Freshwater/ Saltwater
This work explores the journey of matter from mountain to ocean through the rivers, through the bodies of creatures.
Symbolized by the eels journey, whom grow to maturity in the freshwater rivers of forested areas, the eels then embark on a journey through the estuary and out to sea to find their breeding home of the Coral Sea. When the baby eels are born, they then embark on a journey back to the freshwater mountains to grow old again.
This work sits within the liminal zone of the freshwater/ saltwater estuary, where nutrients gather from the mountain ready to be released into oceans as a plume, or be absorbed as microscopic food for baby fish in the estuarine nursery of the sea. Created in a residency on FLOAT at Bung Ynarda (Lake Tyers).
