The Carbon of shells is hiding in the Calcium Carbonate molecule, that also hides in our bones. As the ocean absorbs carbon dioxide, the reactions that pursue steal carbonate from shells, making it hard for shells to form. This reminds us that even the solid carbon of shells and rocks are in constant flux and flow.
